We are pleased to announce the upcoming edition of Finsec Dialogue on ‘SEBI’s Proposed Framework for Specified Digital Platforms’, to be held on December 06, 2024.
On October 22, 2024, the Securities and Exchange Board of India ("SEBI") released a Consultation Paper ("Paper") seeking public comments on a draft circular outlining the framework for recognizing certain digital platforms as Specified Digital Platforms ("SDPs"). SEBI, in an earlier Circular dated October 22, 2024, has defined an SDP as a digital platform which has a mechanism in place to take preventive as well as curative action, to the satisfaction of SEBI, to ensure that such a platform is not used for any activity specifically prohibited by SEBI.
The paper, inter alia, proposes measures such as data-sharing with SEBI, deploying AI/ML tools, escalating unauthorized activities, and taking actions like takedowns and blacklisting, as part of the preventive and curative measures that an SDP must have in place.
In this edition of the Finsec Dialogue, we will discuss the key proposals put forth by SEBI and their potential impact on the 'Finfluencer' ecosystem, digital platforms, and most importantly, the intermediaries regulated by SEBI.
