We are pleased to announce our upcoming edition of the Finsec Dialogue on “SEBI's Consultation Paper on Review of Disclosure Requirements for Material Events or Information under SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015" to be held on Google Meet on January 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM.
SEBI has time and again emphasized the need for listed companies to ensure adequate and timely disclosure of material information/events to maintain transparency and fairness in the market. Regulation 30 of the SEBI (LODR) Regulations aims to achieve this by mandating disclosure of certain events that are deemed to be material, while at the same time providing ample discretion to listed entities to disclose such events that may be considered material based on the applicability of SEBI's materiality guidelines.
However, in the recent past, SEBI has observed an increase in complaints regarding inadequate and delayed disclosures as well as non-compliance with the prescribed timelines for disclosures by listed entities. Considering this, SEBI recently issued a consultation paper proposing amendments to Regulation 30 of the SEBI (LODR) Regulations with the view to streamline the disclosure requirements for material events or information in an attempt to keep pace with the changing market dynamics.
In this edition of Finsec Dialogue, we will discuss the major proposals of SEBI in the consultation paper and the implications arising therefrom.
